Healthy Home Evaluator

The Healthy Home Evaluator Study Course prepares students to identify and evaluate health-related hazards in a client’s home. Students will learn how to apply good practices in working with residents, identify housing-related health hazards, use tools to measure hazardous conditions, prioritize hazards, and identify and communicate solutions to residents. This course will go deeper into the eight principles of healthy housing first introduced in the pre-requisite for this course: The Basic Principles of Healthy Homes (BPHH). This course builds on the BPHH course and provides opportunities for students to practice skills in interviewing residents, identifying hazards, conducting quantitative assessment, prioritizing hazards and selecting appropriate solutions to communicate to a resident. The course includes a site visit to a home and a number of case studies. Students will also learn how to protect themselves as they do home visits.

This course has been approved for 4.81 CEUs from the Building Performance Institute.
