Kevin Kennedy, MPH, CIEC, has been involved in environmental health science, safe and healthy housing advocacy, and industrial hygiene chemistry consulting for over 30 years. The Environmental Health Program provides patient families, childcares, and schools with resources to assist them in identifying and reducing indoor environmental exposures that may result in health problems for children. They research indoor environmental health issues focusing on home interventions, exposure assessment, and, more recently, geospatial analysis of health disparities and social determinants of health. The program received the HUD Secretary Award for Healthy Homes in 2015.
Mr. Kennedy teaches courses in environmental health assessment and investigations, environmental measurement and sampling, building science, and healthy housing principles and assessment practice. He is the primary author of the Healthy Housing Principles Reference Guide for Building Performance Institute, Inc.. He has served as a member of the ASHRAE’s Environmental Health Committee, a co-director of the Workgroup Practice Parameter on Environmental Assessment of Allergens for the Joint Task Force of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the Indoor Air Quality Association’s Home Health Committee. He is a Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant and previously worked as an environmental analytical chemist, research scientist in extractive metallurgy, and in a previous life was a historic home restoration carpenter and woodworker. Mr. Kennedy received his master’s degree in public health from the University of Kansas Medical School.
