Creation of Technical Manuals and Papers
Solutions designs, writes, edits, and produces business and technical publications for a wide variety of audiences. Examples of our work include the following:
- HUD Healthy Homes Background Papers – In 2006 and again in 2011, Solutions updated a series of HUD Healthy Homes Background Papers on the state of the research and best practices related to asthma, carbon monoxide, injury prevention, integrated pest management and pesticides, mold, and residential assessment. Additionally, Solutions prepared a new background paper on green building design in 2011.
- HUD Healthy Homes Program Guidance Manual – In September 2011, Solutions completed development of the 274-page HUD Healthy Homes Program Guidance Manual, a document that provides evidence-based guidance for governments and nonprofits to build or expand their housing, and for public health programs related to residential environmental health and safety hazards. Suggested tools, techniques, and systems in this manual represent practices identified as effective, efficient, and realistic. The seven chapters mirror specific features of successful healthy homes programs and include coverage on community involvement in program planning, program design, housing-related health and safety hazard assessment, intervention strategies, evaluation of program implementation, and program sustainability.
