Childhood Lead Poisoning Primary Prevention Collaboration Pilot

In September 2014, Solutions was awarded an 18-month project to work with health agencies and federally tax-exempt nonprofit hospitals in two pilot cities to institutionalize strategies that leverage the community benefits requirements in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) to reduce blood lead levels and assure housing assessment and repairs for demographic and geographic areas where children are at greatest risk. This pilot will produce templates to better integrate children’s environmental health and housing into hospitals’ Community Benefit Needs Assessments. Elements of outreach will include policy education, briefing documents, presentations, funding charts, and guidance for hospitals to plan and build collaborative relationships.
