Applied Field Research
Solutions conducts and manages applied field research and evaluation projects related to residential environmental health and safety for federal, state and local agencies, private sector businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Examples of our work include the following:

- Disposable Cleaning Cloth Protocol – In 2007, Solutions administered, managed and participated in the field portion of EPA’s Third Controlled Room Study of Disposable Cleaning Cloth Protocol by field testing a wet and dry cleaning cloth protocol, which was in EPA’s proposed Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule, through a subcontract with Battelle Memorial Institute.
- EPA study of electrostatic cleaning cloths – In 2006, Solutions assisted in developing the design and quality assurance project plan (QAPP) for an EPA study of electrostatic cleaning cloths as alternatives to lead dust clearance testing, through a subcontract with Battelle Memorial Institute. Solutions was also engaged to work with various Baltimore City programs and property owners to secure housing units for the study in which dust sampling and the cleaning protocol would be performed. Finally, working with its lead-based paint inspection and risk assessment subcontractor, Solutions carried out the field sampling and cleaning protocol in 11 Baltimore City housing units.
